1. My name is Bea Augustine, and I'm a junior majoring in Communication Design.
2. I am taking this class to learn how to design for the screen since I mostly have experience designing for printed material. I enjoy graphic design but think it would be really useful to have a basic understanding of interaction design.
3. I do not have any experience with HTML, CSS, or JS.
4. I hope to learn how to format pages within a website so that I can eventually build out a portfolio site for myself.
5. I know that designing for screens requires you to consider different dimensions of screens and how users read on them, which has an effect on how the design is executed.
6. I think that this site has a very effective design: AIGA Eye On Design. I like how the first thing users see is a large, eye-catching graphic leading to an article, and when you continue scrolling, you can look through other articles under different categories. Everything is easy to navigate and is pleasing to the eye.
7. I think that this site displays effective communication: St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. It is easy to navigate and not overly cluttered, and it advertises ticket sales on the front page, which is the most likely reason that users visit the site to begin with.
8. I think that this site works well: Etsy. I feel that Etsy's platform is very efficient and navigable for shoppers, and they maintain their brand through design while also customizing recommendations to the individual user.
